Over the last few years I have been privileged to work with a number of fantastic musicians, non-profits, and businesses on projects ranging from simple fliers to full brand builds and web designs. Below is a collection of projects I have worked on – some in the capacity of a freelancer, others as an employee. Every one is a product of careful, successful collaboration.

If you have a project you’d like to work together on, you can reach me at dan@designbyknight.net!

Branding & Logos

Brazos Music

a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of all people

In 2022 I was lucky enough to be included in the realization of the Brazos Music brand. This involved logo designs for the organization and their programs as well as a full website design, which included registration pages and donation integration. I also partnered with organization leadership on messaging, the importance of brand awareness and presentation, and social media usage. I remain on contract with Brazos Music for the production of upcoming marketing materials, website updates/maintenance, and any future branding projects that may emerge.

Resources for violists that elevate teaching, learning, and performing through the joy of collaboration

I was contracted by Molly Sharp of VlaTutti to help design a new logo that could be used on their printed scores. VlaTutti’s mission of elevated experience through collaboration felt so in-line with my own that the project was an easy win for both sides.

Dawson White

Violist / Teacher / Mentor / Entrepreneur

In the Fall of 2020 I was contracted by Dawson White to do a full rebrand and new website for him and his teaching studio. We worked together extensively, really defining the authentic message that Dawson wanted to communicate. When I work on a personal brand like this, it is a truly collaborative creative experience.

Pivot Party

A Podcast About Embracing Change

Over the summer, Nina & Dan launched a podcast! New episodes release every Wednesday morning at 10AM Central. Being who we are, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to build the show a visual identity of its own. Inspired by old trail signs, it felt right for a show focused on resilience and forging new paths.

Houston Viola Society

HVS seeks to create a community among the professional, amateur and student violists in the Greater Houston area and Southeast Texas.

In the summer of 2020 I worked with the wonderful folks at the Houston Viola Society on a full rebrand. It was a great opportunity to work with a wonderful local organization and build something to help them in their mission. For this project, I worked directly with their Board of Directors to choose colors, typography, design a logo, and develop a true brand voice that is all on display on their redesigned website.

Nina Bledsoe Knight

violist, violinist, teacher, performer, storyteller

Our first real project together was, unsurprisingly, a complete overhaul of Nina’s personal brand and teaching studio. This included logos, color palette, new website, and brand voice development. The most important aspect in all of this was to capture the truth of Nina’s personality, which comes through in her performance and teaching, and really drive home her core values. The ultimate goal was to give visitors of her website the feeling that they have met her.

Other Projects

Since 2019, I have worked with organizations, groups, bands, podcasts, and anyone else looking to elevate their brand.

Flyers & Posters

Carrierwave creative

As a full-time employee of WorldVue since 2011, I have had the opportunity to work on and lead an incredibly diverse array of design & creative projects. In my current role as the Creative Director of CarrierWave Creative, I lead a team of designers and creators in support of WorldVue’s overall marketing and branding efforts, as well as lead sales initiatives for outside clients. In 2022, these included a web design project for R STAHL and video content for The Dorian Hotel, by Concord Hospitality.

I have also lead branding projects for a number of WorldVue’s products, internal programs, and subsidiaries.
